Welcome to Our Blog

From the Desk of Dr. Platt

Why Pediatric Dentistry? A question many have asked. To some, it seems noble. To some, it seems crazy. But to me, it seems simple. I love dentistry, and I love kids. It’s the perfect fit to combine a love for science, art, communication, and fun.

I’ve always been drawn to kids. Even when I was a kid, I looked forward to playing with younger kids because the joy that comes from being around kids can’t be matched. It’s super rewarding to help a kid go from anxious tears to a confident smile at the dental office. Sometimes we need games, sometimes we need jokes, and sometimes we need to talk about dinosaurs, Mickey Mouse, Paw Patrol, Frozen, unicorns, and rainbows. We always bring patience, and we always bring a smile. It’s not always easy, but our goal is simple: every kid walks away with a smile. At NWA Pediatric Dentistry, we believe in the motto “Change a Smile, Change the World.”

My hope through this blog is to open a window into more of who we are at NWA Pediatric Dentistry and provide small pieces of information to help and encourage parents to navigate the day-to-day life of parenthood. We are your local pediatric dental team, but we are also moms, dads, and grandparents who have kids and grandkids just like you. The pressures and challenges of raising kids and grandkids in 2025 are not getting any easier, and we want you to know that we feel the same way.

Our posts will provide a few tips, tricks, or ideas to inspire and lighten the load at least slightly. We will (try to) focus on your children’s oral health and make their dental visits a smooth and positive experience, but we will also share our passions of hiking, fishing, traveling, sports, Disney movies, the Razorbacks, and more!

A few upcoming posts will include:

1. What to Expect at My Child’s First Dental Visit

2. How to Take Care of My Child’s Teeth

3. Exploring NWA this Summer

We hope to feed your interest in all things oral health from infancy to early adulthood as well as share some of our favorite interests in and around NWA for kids and families. Thanks for being a part of our NWA Pediatric Dentistry family!

Shine Your Light,

Dr. Platt
