Summer is just around the corner and there are so many things to do and explore in Northwest Arkansas! While we might say the best thing about summer is extra time for everyone to brush their teeth, we actually prefer looking forward to all the fun things we can do in and around our area. Summertime is awesome family time! So don’t miss out on anything this summer. Check out a few of our current favorites! Get out and explore NWA this summer – 2025!
#1. Scott Family Amazeum (Link)
The Amazeum is a fantastic place for kids to learn, be creative, and explore this summer. Northwest Arkansas’ biggest and best children’s museum has something for the whole family. From toddlers, to big kids, and even parents there is a new fun activity waiting for you.
Your kids’ favorites might include a personal shopping experience in their very own mini Walmart, opportunities for creativity while painting and building, learning about science through experiments in the Hershey’s lab, or discovering the world of engineering through water. Plan for plenty of time here and don’t rush your visit because there is so much to offer. Maybe even step outside for a quick lunch break in their outdoor play area before continuing to explore.
Pro Tip: Become a Member of the Amazeum and receive discounted or free admission to many other Children’s Museums when you travel across the country including Little Rock’s Museum of Discovery, Children’s Museum of Memphis, and Dallas’ Perot Museum of Nature and Science.
#2. Northwest Arkansas Naturals Game (LINK)
🎶 Take me out to the ballgame! Take me out with the crowd! 🎶
Check out America’s greatest pastime this summer at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale. The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are the Double-A Affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, and they provide an incredible, yet casual and inexpensive baseball experience for your family. There’s plenty of activities at every game to keep everyone interested all night long. Think your kids need a break from the action? Check out the playground in Center Field or the Kids Zone in Left Field.
Don’t miss out on the frequent promotions that make every night exciting! For instance:
- Wednesday Nights – $1 Hot Dogs!
- Friday Nights – Friday Fireworks!
- Sunday Afternoons – Family Sunday! Kids run the bases after the game!
One other exciting tip – Kids 3 and under are FREE!
#3. Play Street Museum – Fayetteville (Link)
Need a place to cool off and take a break from the summer heat? Look no further than our local version of Play Street Museum or as Dr. Platt’s kids say “The Play Place”! This place is awesome for toddlers and children up to 8 years old. Step into a world of indoor play as kids can discover a bakery, Veterinarian clinic, cafeteria, and more.
Pro Tip: Reservations Needed! Capacity is limited, which enables kids to enjoy their experience even more. But summer can be busy so reserve your Play Time in advance! Pick from several different 90 minute slots available on their website.
Extra Credit Ideas:
- Splash Pads – Ward Nail Park in Lowell has one of our favorites, but there are multiple across Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers, and Bentonville to check out all summer long.
- Farmer’s Markets – Saturday mornings at the Fayetteville Square and the Bentonville Square
- Hunt Family Ozark Highlands Nature Center
- Coler Mountain Bike Preserve
- Hobbs State Park
- Devil’s Den State Park
Summers are short, and there are a limited number before our kids are grown and out of the house. Take every opportunity to make lots of fun family memories in and around Fayetteville this summer!
